    Notes on this tool

    The GPA here is a weighted average: each score is multiplied by that course's credit units, the results are added together, and the total is divided by the sum of all credit units — the method most Iranian universities use. This means a course with more credit units affects the final GPA more.

    If your school or university calculates GPA differently (for example, a simple average of scores without weighting by credits), you can set every value in "Credit units" to 1, and this same tool will calculate a simple average for you too.

    The GPA is shown to two decimal places, the precision usually printed on a transcript.

    Frequently asked questions

    How can someone whose GPA is calculated as a simple average, not a weighted one, use this tool?
    For each course, enter its score, and set the value in "Credit units" to 1 (for every course). This makes the tool's weighted formula calculate exactly the simple average you need.
    Can I enter a negative score or one above 20?
    No. Iranian universities grade on a 0 to 20 scale, so this tool only accepts scores in that range.
    What happens if I enter a course with a score or credit of zero?
    A score of zero is counted like any other score. But credit units must be greater than zero — a course with zero credit units has no effect on a weighted average anyway, so entering zero is meaningless.
