How to use

  1. Choose whether your date of birth is Jalali or Gregorian, using the two buttons at the top.
  2. Enter the year, month and day you were born.
  3. Your age appears immediately, with the days you have lived and the time until your next birthday.

Notes on this tool

The age is counted in the calendar you entered the date in. A birthday entered as a Jalali date falls on that same Jalali day each year, and a Gregorian one on that same Gregorian day — the two are not identical, so the months and days can differ slightly. The total number of days is the same either way.

Persian and Latin digits are both accepted.

Entering a date that does not exist — 31 Aban, or 30 Esfand in a year that is not a leap year — shows an error instead of a result.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the same as the age on an official form?
If you enter the date on your identity document, yes. Note that some organisations count completed years and others count the year you are in; the figure here is completed years, so until your birthday arrives you are still the age you were.
I was born on 30 Esfand. When is my birthday?
30 Esfand exists only in a leap year. In the other years this tool puts the anniversary on 29 Esfand — the last day that month has — rather than leaving you without a birthday three years in four.
Why doesn't “whole months” equal the years times twelve?
It does, but the days left over after the last whole month are not counted in it. If 3 years, 2 months and 20 days have passed, that is 38 whole months, with those 20 days written separately.
I only know my Gregorian date of birth. Is that a problem?
